PRAYER = WALKING WITH GOD

“Our father in heaven, hallowed be your name” -Jesus Christ, Mat. 6:9

You have a Father in heaven—we all have a Father in heaven. Have you ever thought about what it means to have a good father? A good father is there for you. He takes care of you. He listens. And instills wisdom. A relationship with a Father is not a one-way relationship like some people understand prayer to be. It’s a two way relationship between a Dad and his beloved child. When Jesus taught his disciples to pray, he taught them to recognize God’s identity first, as a Father.

“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.”

Matthew 6:9-13

“YOUR KINGDOM COME, YOUR WILL BE DONE.” -Jesus Christ, MAT. 6:9

We have many agendas for our own lives. Do you want life to be easier? Do you want to be happy? There are a lot of things that we think will make us happy, but true joy comes from falling in step with God’s will. “Jesus gave them this answer: ‘Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.’” Read John 5:19-23

Action step: talk to god while you go about your day.

  1. Ask questions about what you see and what you’re going through

  2. Talk to God about what you love; and what drives you crazy

  3. Include God in what you’re doing.
